Editorial Standards

Our standards
Every page on USBuyGold is written by someone with real experience in the topic, edited to one house standard, and checked for accuracy before it publishes. We write answer-first, keep figures directional and honest, separate fact from opinion, disclose our affiliate relationships, and correct mistakes openly. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to.
Money content carries real consequences, so we treat it that way. These are the rules our writers and editors follow on every guide, review, tool, and post.
Accuracy and sourcing
- We rely on primary and reputable sources — IRS publications, mint and refiner specifications, LBMA standards, regulator actions, and established market data — over secondhand claims. See sources and citations.
- Figures (premiums, returns, fees, tax rates) are presented as directional and date-dependent unless tied to a specific rule. We don’t invent precise statistics or fabricate citations.
- We never present a dealer’s marketing as fact, and we hedge anything we can’t verify.
Independence and honesty
- We are not a dealer and take no payment to recommend a company. Affiliate commissions never affect ratings — see how we make money.
- We’re comfortable saying “it depends,” “this may not be for you,” and “don’t buy.” A page that only ever says “buy” isn’t education.
- Opinion is labeled as opinion. Analysis is grounded in stated reasoning, not vibes or urgency.
Voice and clarity
- Answer-first: the direct answer comes at the top, including the downside, before the detail.
- No hype, no fear marketing, no manufactured urgency, and none of the tired clichés the industry leans on.
- Plain language, real trade-offs, and the costs that actually decide outcomes kept in view.
Review and expertise
Topics are led by the specialist who knows them best — see our expert contributors — and edited by our managing editor against this standard. Each page shows its author and a “last reviewed” date so you can see how current it is. Our dealer and product research additionally follows a published review methodology.
Corrections
We fix errors. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page and we’ll review it; substantive corrections are updated promptly and the review date refreshed. We’d rather be corrected than be confidently wrong on a money topic.
Not advice
Everything here is general educational information, not financial, tax, or investment advice. Your situation is specific; confirm decisions with a fee-only financial advisor or a CPA.
